Following their acclaimed 2020 album ‘Sun Racket’ and currently preparing for a new release in 2025, Throwing Muses return with new single ‘Drugstore Drastic’ out 12th November on Fire Records and an extensive 2025 UK and EU Spring/Summer tour on sale now.
“An inimitable outfit all these years on” UNCUT
“As intense as ever” The Guardian
Written and produced by Kristin Hersh at Steve Rizzo’s Stable Sound Studio in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, ‘Drugstore Drastic’ tells of a kerbside soliloquy caught en route to a more alluring rendezvous. Built on a brisk acoustic strum with a guitar sub-melody underpinning proceedings, it’s an unfolding tale of social awareness from a blurred sub-conscious.
Kristin Hersh:
“The bulk of this song comes from a New Orleans sidewalk: an overheard conversation between a sober and a not sober person, as we all made our way toward The Cool Tree, an uptown meeting point with a shifting cast of characters, exotic birds and weird, twisting, tendril-like branches that reach out along the ground.”
“Don’t think you should drive… but you’re walking OK.”
Throwing Muses take you to a paradise just beyond our bedraggled fellow travellers.
“Am I OK?”
“Am I OK?”
“No, I don’t think so…”
