Thala reveals new video and single ‘spit you out’, from her new album ‘Avalanche’

Following on from her formative debut ‘Adolescence’, Thala’s remarkable new album ‘Avalanche’  is set for release on 14th February via Fire Records with new single and video out today. As 2023’s EPs revisited painful chapters in her life, ‘Avalanche’  offers a more focussed worldview, tackling more mature matters of the heart.

Thala delivers yet another euphoric, bittersweet moment on new single ‘spit you out’ that flawlessly balances heartbreak alongside revenge.

I remember speaking to a lot of my friends and they all told me about their relationship statuses and/or how heart broken they were, how wronged they were, how hurt they’ve been and it made me so angry. so angry that I canalized all of that anger and wrote the perfect revenge song – including my own experiences in the process I kept remembering how many times I was told ” don’t know what the hell you’re talking about” – after a long conversation with them and basically having to hear over and over again how wrong I was to feel certain things, how wrong I was to just assume a certain attachment from the other side – even though all the signs were there and obvious as day – they were denied. I felt do confused and I know a lot of other people do too… and I wanted to talk about it.” Thala
Drawn to the cerebral emotion of early 90s shoegaze and indie, these are songs to live by – like a modern day Juliana Hatfield, this is pop music that blossoms from verse to chorus much like Hope Sandoval, by way of Ethal Cain and Japanese Breakfast.

“Thala is indie music at its most potent: alluring, spirited and deeply affecting. How lucky we are this is just the beginning.” Rough Trade

A reawakening, full of positivity and purpose from the everyday thrall of life. ‘Avalanche’  is caught in that moment when indie confidently explodes into soaring panoramic rock, a coming of age statement and a strident evolution from her previous work.

An exceptionally gifted artist, Thala’s enigmatic live shows have seen her recently selected for SXSW, The Great Escape, Reepherbahn and Eurosonic festivals as well as touring with Temples, Paolo Nutini, Snail Mail, Current Joys and Surf Curse. She’s had prevalent support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 (Nels Hylton, Sian Eleri, Jack Saunders), KEXP, Flood, The Line Of Best Fit and has featured in Rough Trade’s ‘On The Rise’.

Thala's songwriting is profoundly introspective, it simultaneously oozes a woozy confidence that at once reels you in and hugs you tight. Her lyricism is emotive, striking and beautifully honest, backed by a considered soundscape of psych-tinged 90s indie rock revival touch points
