Fire Songs are pleased to announce the signing of the enigmatic singer songwriter Konner Whitney, aka Whitney K.
First appearing in 2016 through his intoxicating 4-track recorded manifesto ‘Goodnight’ a head on collision into 24 hours of illusioned romance and modern-day escapism, Konner has since released the acclaimed ‘Two Years’ and the delve into magic realism that is ‘Hard To Be A God’ both via close friend of Fire, Maple Death Records.
Working alongside main collaborator and bandmate Josh Boguski, also signed to Fire Songs, Konner’s song writing and musical craftsmanship incorporate tales of his Canadian heritage alongside elements of magic realism and heartfelt honesty, all delivered through a rich baritone voice that transforms the mundane into the extraordinary. Konner’s pen is precise and daring, uniting the earnestness of Willie Nelson and the comedic relief of Harry Nilsson with echoes of Tin Pan Alley and Lou Reed’s grit.
“Remarkably sophisticated musical blend… Inventing exciting new directions for roots music all along the way” ★★★★ MOJO
“Yukon Gold. Whitney’s music has the grit and gallows humour… along with a debauched bent suggestive of early Cass McCombs or Lou Reed” ★★★★ Uncut
