“Remarkably sophisticated musical blend… Inventing exciting new directions for roots music all along the way” ★★★★ MOJO
Alongside main collaborator and bandmate Josh Boguski, also signed to Fire Songs, the artistic focus shifts from folklore and realism to reckoning and truthfulness, outsider folk and political poetry, all delivered through a freeway ridden baritone voice that transforms the mundane into the extraordinary. Konner’s pen is precise and daring, uniting the earnestness of Willie Nelson and the comedic relief of Harry Nilsson with echoes of Tin Pan Alley and Lou Reed’s grit.
“Yukon Gold. Whitney’s music has the grit and gallows humour… along with a debauched bent suggestive of early Cass McCombs or Lou Reed” ★★★★ Uncut
“Compelling, fascinating and deeply satisfying…Indispensable for anyone interested in the future of music who knows its past.” Americana UK
